Eric Livingston is the living example of a crusader who, after years of dedicating his life to improving water quality, has become an expert who is sought out by people from all over the world. His schedule is full of appointments to speak nationally and internationally at conferences on watershed management and urban runoff problems. Over the years, Eric has influenced water quality protection legislation at national, state, and local levels, always focused on the goal of protecting and improving the water we use for our health and recreation.
Since 1977 Eric has worked in the stormwater / nonpoint source management program at FDEP, where he has been responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of this program. He manages over 100 staff in six sections that are involved in the management of the state's surface and ground water resources to maintain or restore the ecological health of Florida's waters. "He is the reason that Florida has such a good stormwater program," says John Cox, the current Planning Chief of the Stormwater Quality Enhancement Program with the City of Tallahassee's Stormwater Division. "He is the most dedicated individual I've ever met to what he believes. He's the consummate big picture guy."
Eric is also one of the founders and directors of the Watershed Management Institute, Inc., a non-profit corporation dedicated to advancing the science, education, and acceptance of comprehensive watershed management. He has authored a number of books and publications too numerous to count.
Eric Livingston - a community resource that we're fortunate to have, right here in Tallahassee.
